What Is A Salt Lamp?

This is a lamp made from salt, often Himalayan salt. It is therefore often called a Himalayan pink salt stone lamp. It emits a soft pink-orange light and is widely used in Feng Shui. Each salt lamp is unique in its shape and the color it emits. The size of the lamp determines the size of the room it can cover with its benefits.

What are the benefits of a salt lamp?

It allows for good blood regeneration and improves circulation due to its high iron content. It helps fight allergies, asthma, indoor germs, and pollution. Having a lamp of this type allows for better breathing at home. It is said that negative ions, once in the bloodstream, stimulate the creation of serotonin, which regenerates the body, calms it, cleanses it of stress, and helps fight depression.

How does it work?

Your lamp will purify the surrounding air by releasing negative ions. These will capture water molecules in the room's air and, at the same time, the dust particles present. As a result, it will retain impurities and release purified air into the atmosphere.

How to purify/clean a salt lamp?

It is very easy to clean because all you need is a small cloth or a feather duster to remove the dust particles that have accumulated on it. Be careful, never clean your salt lamp with water or a damp cloth. It is recommended, if possible, to purify it once a week using the fumigation of an incense stick.

Where to place your salt lamp?

It is recommended to place it in a somewhat intimate place, a place where one feels comfortable and where one often is, such as a bedroom or a living room. When lit, the salt lamp will release negative ions into the atmosphere, creating a soothing and calm aura conducive to meditation or sleep.

How to use your salt lamp?

We recommend leaving your lamp on for 5 to 6 hours a day. The spread of negative ions and the benefits of the lamp do not stop once it is turned off; in fact, it continues to emit them until it has completely cooled down. You can also leave it on at night in your bedroom, as it will provide a more peaceful sleep and the low brightness emitted by these lamps will not disturb your sleep, making it more restorative.

Which salt lamp to choose?

You must choose the size based on the size of the room where you want to place it. Indeed, the larger the room, the more you will need a substantial lamp in order to purify it completely. You also have the choice between a raw, spherical, or even more elaborate lamp. The shape will not have an influence on its effectiveness but only on its aesthetics.

When to turn on your salt lamp?

You can put it on your desk and keep it on throughout your workday, so it will fight against the negative effects of electronic components. As mentioned earlier, you can also put it in your bedroom and leave it on all night, or simply in your living room, next to your couch, to create a soft and dimmed ambiance for a pleasant and relaxing evening with a good book, thus predisposing you to a better quality of sleep. It is also widely used during yoga practice, meditation, or spiritual retreats.

Why does the salt lamp leak?

Manufacturers say that this sometimes happens and that the best remedy is to leave your lamp on for longer each day, so it dries out and no longer leaks. This can happen especially when you haven't used your lamp for a long time. If you're unsure, place a nice saucer underneath to prevent any leakage, and if you have to leave for several days without turning it on, wrap it in plastic wrap with a little rice to protect it from moisture.

What are the dangers of salt lamps?

What is fantastic is that apart from becoming addicted to its soft and warm light, you don't risk anything at all. Maybe you risk wanting to put one in every room of your house, which is not in itself too problematic of a danger.
